Newsletter SS 21

Dear members of the Graduate Research Programme Changing Frames,
Dear readers,

Although the sun and heat waves have been shy in Konstanz and Stuttgart, the summer semester was intense. As the semester begins, we would like to review a few events.

Our team had several opportunities to stay in touch through online platforms, our “new reality”. We discussed chapters of our theses together, hosted an interview with Nathalie Bäschlin, worked on our glossary project of interdisciplinary terms and we presented our video projects at the digital ABK Rundgang. We also had the chance to connect with doctoral researchers in two other Graduate Research Programmes from Göttingen and Erlangen-Nürnberg.

We had additional opportunities to stay in contact with our network, to keep learning and to continue our practical research by attending seminars, conferences, and workshops online or on-site. In this newsletter, you will find a report of some highlights. You will also discover which important pieces of the puzzle each of us has found along our doctoral research paths. Moreover, those who want to stay up to date on our progress can follow us on Instagram where we frequently post news about our projects: @rahmenwechsel_changingframes

It is important to mention that several changes have occurred in our team. Tilly Laaser will continue her career at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, where she was appointed as professor of paintings conservation, whereas Verena Bergmann (née Wallner) will take a one-year break. We are sorry to let both of them go, but we wish them all the best for their brilliant futures, and we will stay in contact regularly! Tanja Klemm remains our scientific coordinator and will be supported by Nicolai Eckert, whom we are happy to include in our team. Furthermore, we warmly welcome three new associate members who started their PhD project: conservator Ulrike Palm (ABK Stuttgart); art curator Kristen Gonzalez and art historian Janina Marie Burandt. (Konstanz University)

Looking ahead to the new semester, we would like to invite you to participate in the public online lecture series A Matter of Teamwork: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Images and Works of Art, about which we provided further information in this newsletter.

On behalf of our team, we wish you a nice start into the colourful autumn and hope that you stay safe!

Charlotte & V.E.
