Lecture series and seminar "A matter of teamwork", winter semester 2021/2022

"A Matter of Teamwork: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Works of Art" is comprised of a public lecture series and seminars held at University of Konstanz/TH Köln and TU Berlin in the winter semester 2021/2022. In the lectures, interdisciplinary teams of experts will discuss recent case studies in art history and conservation and shed light on collaborative approaches: their genesis, benefits, and challenges.

How does interdisciplinary collaboration take shape with respect to research on works of art? Which shared questions do teams of art historians and conservators develop when analysing and interpreting historical cultural objects, their materials and techniques? How do these researchers combine methods from the sciences and the humanities, which curatorial issues do they raise, and what conservation decisions do they make? And how can different forms of interdisciplinary collaboration be integrated into the training of future professionals?

In order to make these questions fruitful for professionals as well as for teaching, despite current pandemic limitations, the public inter-university lecture series will take place on selected Thursdays from November 2021 to February 2022, in combination with two online seminars, one in Berlin, accompanied by Magdalena Bushart, and one in Konstanz and Köln, accompanied by Karin Leonhard, Tanja Klemm, and Tilly Laaser. “A Matter of Teamwork” has been organized by the Graduate Research Programme "Rahmenwechsel" and the DFG Research Unit "Dimensions of techne in the Arts”.

The public lectures will take place between 4 November 2021 and 3 February 2022, on Thursdays from 2:15 to 3.45 pm.
